Norman Lamb has had a long and varied career. He graduated from Enid High School in 1953, from Cameron Junior College in 1955, from the University of Oklahoma in 1957, and from the University of Oklahoma Law School in 1963. He taught math and history and coached football at Enid High School, was chief prosecutor for Garfield County, and has been in the private practice of law for close to 40 years.

A colonel in the U. S. Army Judge Advocate Generals Corps, Norman retired from the military after 33 years on active and reserve service to his country. He was a member of the Oklahoma State Senate from 1970 to 1988, and was the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 1982. He is a long-time deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid, and served for many years on the State Board of Directors for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Norman continues to serve Oklahoma as the Secretary for Veterans Affairs. Secretary Lamb was first appointed to serve by former Governor Frank Keating. When a new administration was elected in 2002, Governor Brad Henry asked Norman to continue as Secretary for Veterans Affairs.

Knowing Norman as I have since 1982, it is no surprise to me that two Governors from opposing political parties asked him to serve in their cabinets. Norman is a great ambassador for Oklahoma. He continues to serve with the highest degree of integrity and character.

Please help welcome to the Rotary Club of Edmond our special guest, Oklahoma Veterans Affairs Secretary Norman A. Lamb.
